On August 26, at 10:30 a.m. (BRT), the The German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo, will broadcast the virtual debate “Living: social behavior, public health and social inequality during quarantine”. The second episode of the DWIH São Paulo series of Online Talks – “Surviving, Living, and Shaping the Future During the Times of Covid-19” – will address the disease itself, as well as the effects of the pandemic on people and how the world population is dealing with the various aspects of social coexistence and the inequalities revealed by the quarantine.

Anxiety, social inequalities, political alignment, environment, and even age come into play. These are some of the elements that influence how people are facing social isolation, according to the researchers invited to this debate: Susanne Moebus, Director of the Institute for Urban Public Health (InUPH) at the University Hospital of Universität Duisburg-Essen, in Germany, and Jéssica Farias, doctoral student in social work and organization psychology, at the University of Brasília (UnB).

During these next Online Talks of the DWIH São Paulo, Moebus and Farias will present their respective works on the pandemic. The InUPH Director will talk about how Covid-19 is affecting the urban public health system in Germany and the researcher from UnB, in turn, will discuss the profile of Brazilians who fail to comply with social isolation. The event will be moderated by Professor Marcos Buckeridge, Director of the Biosciences Institute of the University of São Paulo (IB-USP).
