The Society for Academic Study Preparation and Test Development (g.a.s.t.) was founded in 2000 as a non-profit organization. g.a.s.t. receives funding from the Federal Foreign Office (AA) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), among others. Through its extensive network of more than 1.000 partner institutions in over 100 countries, g.a.s.t. offers internationally certified language proficiency and scholastic aptitude tests, especially for the access to higher education in Germany. The institution also provides a digital language learning platform called Deutsch-Uni Online (DUO). For teachers, scientists and exam centres, the g.a.s.t.-Akademie offers broad training and qualification opportunities.

As a one of its kind institution in Germany, g.a.s.t. is also engaged in extensive research and development activities in the field of language and aptitude tests, including related IT solutions. g.a.s.t. is also working on several projects to develop technological and content innovations for national and international education purposes.
