Learning about Decarbonisation in Aviation – Higher Education for Sustainable Fuels

“Learning about Decarbonisation in Aviation”. This is the main goal and topic of the 4th webinar promoted by the project ProQR – Climate Neutral Alternative Fuels“, which will be held on October 27th, from 10am to 11:30am (GMT-3), on the platform MSTeams, in Portuguese with simultaneous translation to English.

The event will be streamed, and a recording made available, on the GIZ Youtube Channel. During the event, the teaching material “Alternative Fuels for Aviation in Brazil” will be presented – a partnership with the German Aerospace Center (DLR, in German).

The event will be held in cooperation with the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo. Thanks to its large network of institutions in Brazil and Germany, this event – discussing an innovative topic within the academic world – will allow the expansion of the academic network and contribute to the strengthening of higher education research. At the opening of the event, we will celebrate the recent formalization of a closer partnership between GIZ Brasil and DWIH São Paulo, with speeches from the Boards.

Teaching material

On the way towards decarbonisation of aviation in Brazil, universities play a fundamental role. They are the institutions to strengthen the knowledge base and the technological development with research and lecturing with regard to the production of sustainable fuels. Thinking about the importance to increasingly foster this work, the ProQR project, in collaboration with the DLR (German Aerospace Center), brings international expertise in aviation research and technologies to develop the teaching material “Alternative Fuels for Aviation in Brazil”, together with the Brazilian academic community.

Scheduled for release in November 2021, the material was developed in order to support the creative dynamics in the academic community to teach and research on the production of sustainable aviation fuels, thus accelerating the decarbonisation of Brazil’s transport matrix.

The ProQR project is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH – German Cooperation for Sustainable Development in Brazil – in partnership with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI).
